How much does a boat tour from Split cost?

An honest 2026 price guide to boat tours and charters from Split: what shared seats, private day charters and skippers really cost, what is included, and where the hidden extras hide.

Almost every boat operator in Split will show you a beautiful photo and a "from" price, and almost none will explain what the day actually costs once you add everything up. This guide does. The numbers below are the real market ranges in Split for 2026, so you can compare quotes properly and know where the extras hide.

The price bands

Boat days out of Split fall into a few clear tiers.

  • Shared group tours: roughly 80 to 160 euros per person. You join other guests on a larger speedboat with a set route, such as the 5 islands and Blue Cave run. Good value, less private, fixed timing.
  • Private crewed day charter: from around 480 euros a day for a smaller boat, up to 900 euros or more for a premium boat with a skipper and a hostess. You get the whole boat and the day is built around your group.
  • Bareboat rental: you drive a smaller boat yourself. Cheaper, but you need a licence and the confidence to handle local conditions. More on that in our guide to renting a boat in Split.

What is included, and what is not

The headline number is only half the story. When you compare quotes, compare what is inside them:

  • Skipper: included on a crewed charter, an add-on of roughly 150 euros a day if you rent bareboat and want one.
  • Fuel: the big one. Often billed separately by distance travelled. A quiet day near Šolta costs far less than a long run south, which is why a good operator bills it honestly rather than padding the day rate.
  • Drinks, snacks, snorkelling gear, towels: included on some boats, extra on others. On our own boats these are on board.
  • Entrance tickets: places like the Blue Cave have a separate cash ticket, around 18 to 25 euros, that no tour price covers.

A slightly higher day rate that includes the crew, the drinks and the gear is often cheaper than a bare number once you add the extras back on.

Why private is not just for big spenders

The instinct is that private means expensive. For two people, a shared seat usually wins on price. But the moment you are a group of four, five or six, the comparison flips. Six seats on a shared boat can cost as much as the whole boat to yourselves, and on the private boat nobody else sets the route, the music or the lunch stop. For families and groups of friends, private is frequently the better value, not just the better experience.

Booking direct versus a platform

You will see the same boats on platforms like GetYourGuide and Click&Boat and on operators' own sites. Platforms add a layer of buyer protection, and a commission that you ultimately pay. Booking direct usually means the same boat without that markup, and a faster, more human conversation about your exact dates and the day you want.

If you already know roughly when you want to go and how many of you there are, the quickest way to a real, all-in number is to ask. Send us your dates and group size and we will come back with an honest price and exactly what it includes.

Common questions

How much does a private boat for a day cost in Split?
A private crewed day charter in Split usually starts around 480 euros for a smaller boat and runs to 900 euros or more for a premium boat with a skipper and a hostess. Our own Colnago 35 sits in the premium band, from 900 euros a day with the crew, drinks, snacks, snorkelling gear and towels included, and fuel billed separately.
Is a group tour or a private boat cheaper for four to six people?
For two people a shared seat is cheaper. For a group of four to six the maths shifts: six shared seats at 100 euros each is 600 euros for a fixed route on a full boat, which is close to a private day where the whole boat, the route and the timing are yours. Once you are a small group, private is often the better value as well as the better day.
Is fuel included in a Split boat tour price?
Often not. Fuel is the most common surprise on a private charter and is usually billed by how far you actually travel. This is fair, because a calm day near Šolta uses far less than a run to the Blue Cave and back, but always ask whether the quote includes it.
Do you tip the skipper in Croatia?
Tipping is not required and not expected, but it is appreciated for a day that went well. Ten percent or rounding up is normal if you want to. It is a thank you, not part of the price.
What is the cheapest way to see the islands from Split?
A shared group speedboat tour, roughly 80 to 160 euros per person, is the lowest-cost way onto the water. You trade privacy and flexibility for the price. A private charter costs more up front but is often better value for a group and a far more relaxed day.
