A private boat for a group changes the arithmetic of a day on the water. The boat is yours, the route is yours, and the price divided across ten or twelve people is often less than individual shared-tour seats. For a birthday, a hen party, a family reunion or a group of friends who want a proper day rather than a seat on a strangers' boat, it is the obvious choice once you know it is available.

Capacity and which boat to use

The Colnago 35 holds up to 12 guests with a skipper and a hostess on board. That is the most popular configuration for medium groups. For groups of 8 or fewer, the Kavi is a strong alternative — two cabins below, a teak cockpit, and a more intimate feel.

For groups larger than 12, two boats is the better answer. One boat becomes uncomfortable past its capacity, and the day gets more chaotic rather than more fun. Two boats means two routes, two swim stops at once, and a reunion in harbour for lunch. It almost always makes for a better day.

What makes a group day work

The difference between a great group day and a difficult one usually comes down to one thing: a clear brief before you leave the dock.

  • Who is in the group — ages, any children, anyone prone to sea sickness, anyone who cannot swim?
  • What matters most — swimming and snorkelling, getting somewhere specific, a long lunch, or just a day on the water?
  • Any occasion details — birthday, proposal, anniversary, hen or stag? Tell us and we will plan around it.
  • What time works — standard check-in is 09:00 with check-out at 18:00. If you need a different window, ask.

The crew does not need a minute-by-minute plan. They need to know the vibe and the non-negotiables. The rest they will read from the group as the day goes.

Birthday and celebration days

Birthdays on the boat are a regular request, and they work well. A quiet anchorage, the crew appearing from the cabin with something cold and a candle at the right moment, a swim, and a lunch in a harbour you chose rather than one that was picked for forty strangers. Bring what you want to celebrate with — we will keep it chilled and bring it out when you want.

For a proposal, the same logic applies but with more discretion. A quiet cove, the other guests distracted, and a crew who have done this enough to know how to be invisible. Tell us the plan and we handle the timing.

Hen and stag parties

Split is one of the most popular hen and stag destinations in Europe, and the islands are the obvious location for a day away from the city. A private boat means you control what the day is: it can be calm and beautiful or it can have a soundtrack. We do not run party boats in the rave sense, but a boat with your group, music, swimming and lunch is a fine hen or stag day without requiring a script.

The one thing that makes these days work best is starting at a reasonable hour. A 09:00 departure means you are at the first swim stop by 10:00 and at lunch in a harbour by 13:00, which leaves the evening for the city. Groups that leave at noon spend the first swim stop still arriving.

Corporate and team days

A boat day is increasingly used as a team day by companies with people in Split or visiting from abroad. The combination of a shared physical experience, genuinely beautiful surroundings and a crew who handles the logistics makes it easier to have real conversations than almost any conference room alternative. Pricing for groups

A private boat is priced per boat per day, not per head. The Colnago 35 starts from 900 euros a day with the crew, drinks, snacks, snorkelling gear and towels included. Fuel is billed separately based on distance — a day around Šolta costs less than a run to Vis and back. Divided across 10 guests, that is 90 euros per person for a day with the whole boat to yourselves. See the full price guide for the complete breakdown.

For groups, the fastest route to a real quote is a direct conversation. Send us your date, group size and any occasion details and we will come back with what the day could look like and exactly what it costs.

Common questions

How many people can a private boat hold in Split?
Capacity depends on the boat. The Colnago 35 holds up to 12 guests plus the crew, which makes it the right size for a medium group. The Kavi holds up to 9. For groups larger than 12, two boats are the answer, which has the advantage of splitting the group into two more comfortable days rather than cramming everyone onto one boat.
How much does a private group boat charter cost in Split?
A private day charter for a group is priced per boat per day, not per person. The Colnago 35 starts from 900 euros a day with the crew, drinks, snacks and snorkelling gear included; fuel is billed separately by distance. Divided across 10 to 12 people, that is 75 to 90 euros per person — far less than most group tours charge per seat for a fixed, shared route.
Can you bring your own food and drinks on a private charter?
On our boats, drinks and snacks are included. If you want to bring a birthday cake, a specific bottle, or food for a special occasion, just tell us in advance and we will make sure it is ready at the right moment. We would rather know ahead than have a warm champagne situation.
What is a hen party boat day like in Split?
The full boat for the group, a route built around what the party wants, and a crew who will organise the day around the occasion. Common requests are a specific swim stop, a set of swims and a long lunch at a quiet harbour. We have done a few hundred of these and the ones that work best give the crew a clear brief in advance: where you want to end up, whether there are any surprises, and how long you want to spend swimming versus cruising.
Are children allowed on a group boat charter?
Yes. Life jackets in child sizes are on board, and the crew adjusts the route and the pace around the group. For a mixed group with children, we recommend telling us the ages when you book so the swim stops and the crossing lengths are planned accordingly.
