Celebrations on the water
Hen party and birthday boat from Split: how to plan the day
How to plan a hen party, birthday or celebration on a private boat from Split — what works, what to organise in advance, and why the Adriatic is one of the best backdrops a celebration can have.

Split is one of the most popular hen party destinations in Europe, and the Adriatic is the obvious reason. Clear water, warm sun, beautiful islands, a crew who handles everything, and a boat that is entirely yours for the day. A celebration on the water beats any restaurant, pool bar or nightclub before the evening even starts.
Here is how to make it work.
Why a private boat
The difference between a private charter and a shared tour on a celebration day is the same as the difference between hiring a restaurant and booking two seats at a table: one is your event, the other is just attendance.
On a private boat the music is what you want, the swim stops are where you choose, the pace is yours, and nobody else's group sets the mood. The crew are there for you, not managing forty strangers. That matters on a day that is supposed to feel like yours.
What works well on a celebration day
The best celebration days have a loose structure rather than a tight schedule:
A morning swim stop. Leave Split at 09:00, find a quiet cove, anchor up and spend an hour in the water while things are still cool and calm. This sets the mood for the day better than anything else.
A long lunch in a harbour. Komiža on Vis, Starigrad on Hvar, Maslinica on Šolta — wherever the skipper recommends for the day. A table on the water, fresh fish, cold wine, and nowhere to be. Two hours passes fast.
An afternoon back on the water. The return leg at a slower pace, one more swim, the light going golden. This is when people tend to stop looking at their phones.
Back to Split for the evening. Check-out at 18:00 leaves the evening for Split's old town, dinner on the Riva, and wherever the night goes.
Planning around the occasion
Hen parties. Tell us the name of the hen and any details that matter — we make sure the day is organised around her. Drinks are on board; if you want sashes, a tiara or decorations on the boat, bring them. We will set up the boat before you board.
Birthdays. A birthday at sea is one of those days that stays with people for years. If a cake is coming, it needs to be with us the night before or the morning of — we will keep it out of the heat and bring it out at the right moment. Tell us whether it is a surprise.
Proposals. We have done a few hundred days on the water and the proposals are always the ones the crew talk about. A quiet cove away from other boats, the others distracted at the bow, something cold ready, and a crew who are very good at being somewhere else when they need to be. Tell us the plan in detail and we will work around it.
The boats
The Colnago 35 is the flagship for group celebrations: 10.45 metres, up to 12 guests, a skipper and a hostess on board, drinks, snacks and snorkelling gear included. The Kavi is a more intimate alternative for smaller groups of eight or fewer.
For groups larger than 12, two boats running the same route is a far better experience than an overloaded single boat, and means the group can split into two natural crews — which almost always makes for a more relaxed day.
What to book and when
Summer in Split is busy. July and August celebrations book out weeks ahead. If you have a fixed date — a hen weekend planned for August, a birthday group arriving in July — contact us as early as possible.
Send us the date, the group size and the occasion and we will come back with availability, the right boat configuration and an honest all-in price.
Common questions
- Can you organise a hen party on a private boat from Split?
- Yes. A private charter means the boat is yours for the day — the group, the music, the route and the pace are all yours. We have run hen parties, birthday celebrations and anniversary days many times. The ones that work best give us a brief in advance: how many, what matters most, any surprises planned. We handle the rest.
- How many people can come on a celebration charter?
- The Colnago 35 holds up to 12 guests plus the crew. For larger groups, two boats is the right answer — it splits the party into two comfortable experiences rather than one crowded one, and both boats can meet at swim stops and for lunch. Tell us the number and we will advise the best configuration.
- Can you arrange a surprise or a proposal on the boat?
- Yes, and we do both regularly. For a proposal, we need the plan in advance: a quiet anchorage, something cold ready at the right moment, and a crew who knows to be invisible when you need them to be. For a birthday surprise, the same approach. Give us the brief and we build the timing around it.
- Can you bring your own food and drinks for a celebration?
- Drinks and snacks are included on the boat. If you want to bring a birthday cake, a specific bottle of champagne, or food for a special occasion, tell us in advance and we will make sure it is chilled and ready at the right moment. We would rather know ahead than improvise.
- What is the cost of a hen party boat charter from Split?
- A private day charter starts from 900 euros for the full boat with crew, drinks, snacks, snorkelling gear and towels. Fuel is billed by distance. Across ten guests that is 90 euros per person — similar to a shared tour seat, but with the whole boat and the whole day built around your group. No strangers, no fixed route.
